Help us grow!
Studio 22 launched in fall 2025 to provide resources, support, and community to homeschooling teens — who tend to age out of other homeschooling opportunities and lack access to the opportunities they need to cultivate friendships, find educational support, and develop skills for their current life stage.
Our program is a bit different than what’s already being offered to homeschoolers throughout South Jersey. We’re not a co-op, where parents volunteer their time and share resources to keep costs low. Studio 22 is a drop-off program, kind of like a school. This approach supports working caregivers, people with younger children, and those who have responsibilities throughout the day.
But we’re not a school at all.
Studio 22 meets 3-ish days per week and is staffed by facilitators who teach topics based on their specializations — offering a lot more flexibility, smaller group settings, and more tailored support for students.
Courses and opportunities are developed in collaboration with the kids who attend. This helps young people foster a sense of personal responsibility and independence from their caregivers while cultivating community amongst kids in a similar life stage. Academic offerings can fulfill needs for some core subjects or can act as a supplement for families who pursue education together at home.
In the fall term, we offered one day per week of academic classes — with research topics, civics, and writing workshops; one day of theatre — with improv, movement, costume design, and play production; and another day that was a bit more social in nature — with open art, interest-based workshops, and field trips.
This winter, we’re still leaving lots of room for social time in the afternoons. But we’re also honing our vision to build more academic rigor into our weekly rhythm — bumping up to two days of academic classes per week, adding a music program, exploring social-emotional learning and life skills, and continuing to explore other arts and theatre.
It’s a big step!
Studio 22, which is a nonprofit, was initially funded by a few founding families and collects a sliding scale tuition in hopes that grants would offset programming costs.
But our seed money is quickly drying up.
We believe in this funding approach because we are committed to making our programs as affordable and accessible as possible. However, Studio 22 hasn’t yet received any grants. And most of our students attend for free or at significantly reduced fees.
That means we need your help to keep going.
Our biggest expenses from now until June will be rent and facilitators. We are hoping to raise $5,000. No donation is too small. Anything will help us continue to fund this program. And all donations are helpful and appreciated. Can you help us out?
